We worked with Bristol Bristol City Council and Vital Energi to build an innovative energy centre on the floating harbour that contains the largest water source heat pump in England. It currently generates renewable energy for homes and businesses through the Bristol Heat Network.

In 2021, Goram Homes and Bristol Housing Festival launched a competition inviting architects to submit designs for a residential property above and adjacent to the heat pump.

The competition winners were announced in Spring 2022. A pre-application enquiry was submitted to Bristol City Council in Autumn 2022.

We are now seeking a partner to bring forward the designs, and will start public consultation and engagement once this team is in place.

Building sustainable communities

Goram Homes always aspires to exceed planning policy in terms of delivery of affordable homes.

Our developments include homes of different sizes for market sale, social rent and affordable home ownership.

The number of affordable homes and the tenure split shown in the graph has been estimated based on initial capacity studies and policy requirements. We will update all figures annually, in line with business planning, or when planning has been granted.

To find out more about affordable homes and tenures have a look at our FAQs.
